Terms Of Service
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Thanks for using ChatQR. These terms are the agreement between you and ChatQR, LLC ("ChatQR", "we", "us") for using ChatQR on the web and in our iOS and Android apps (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use ChatQR.
1. Who can use ChatQR
- You must give your real date of birth. It decides which protections apply to your account. Where the law requires it, we also rely on the age range the App Store or Google Play shares with us, and apply the younger of the two.
- Under 13: a parent or legal guardian sets up your account from their own ChatQR account (Family center) and supervises it. You can't sign up on your own.
- 13 to 15: you may use ChatQR only with a parent or legal guardian who approves your account and supervises it, as described in the Privacy Policy. A parent or guardian who creates or approves an account for a child agrees to these terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for that supervision.
- 16 and 17: you may use ChatQR on your own, and a parent may ask to supervise your account.
- One person per account. Accounts must belong to real people — no bots or automated sign-ups — and you may not create an account if we've removed you before.
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens on your account.
2. Parents and guardians
If you supervise someone's account, you agree to use those tools only to look after a child or teen you're responsible for. Guardians can approve friends, choose some settings and see what the child shares, but can't read their messages or use their account as them. If a guardian turns on safety alerts, an AI reads the child's chats and comments for signs of danger and tells the guardian only what kind of thing it found, never the messages; the child can always see that alerts are on. You may only supervise a child you are the parent or legal guardian of, or with that parent's or guardian's permission.
3. Being a good member
ChatQR is for the people you actually know. You agree not to:
- harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone;
- contact, groom or exploit a minor in any way, or share sexual content involving anyone under 18 — we report this to the authorities;
- share content that's illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that you don't have the right to share;
- spam people — including sending invites to people you don't know, or using invites, messages or the Service for advertising;
- collect other people's information, scrape the Service, or try to get around privacy settings, age rules or guardian controls;
- use bots, scripts, crawlers, headless browsers or any other automated means to access the Service, copy or download from it, or create or run accounts — the Service is for people using it themselves;
- copy other people's photos, posts, messages or profile details out of ChatQR to use or publish elsewhere without their permission;
- break, overload or try to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other people's accounts.
You can block and report people in the app. We may remove content or limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we'll cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires or where someone may be in danger.
4. Your content
What you share on ChatQR is yours. To run the Service, you give us permission to store, copy, resize, process and show your content to the people you share it with, as described in the Privacy Policy. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that take a short while to clear from backups, the private copy we keep for 30 days for safety and legal reasons (or longer when the law requires it), as described in the Privacy Policy, or copies that others have already shared within ChatQR as you allowed. Only share content you have the right to share, and only share other people's personal information with their permission.
Invites: when you invite someone, you confirm you know them and are allowed to share their contact details with us for that purpose.
5. Purchases
ChatQR is free to use. Some extras, such as the Facebook import unlock, are one-time purchases made on our website and processed by Stripe. Prices are shown before you pay and include any applicable taxes where required. Purchases on our website are for adults (18 and over); purchases in our apps go through Apple or Google, which ask a parent where required. Purchases unlock the feature for your account and aren't transferable. If something goes wrong with a purchase, email support@chatqr.com and we'll review your request; this doesn't affect any rights you have under consumer law.
6. Our app, and other services
ChatQR's name, logo, design and software belong to us. You may use the Service as intended, but not copy, sell, reverse-engineer or build a competing product from it. Features that connect to other services (such as Dropbox, or importing a Facebook export) are also subject to those services' terms. If you got the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, their terms apply too; Apple and Google aren't responsible for the app or for supporting it.
7. Changes, closing your account
- You can delete your account at any time: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete. See chatqr.com/delete_account.
- We may change, add or remove features, and may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.
- We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using ChatQR after that means you accept the new terms.
8. Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep ChatQR safe and running, but we provide it "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We're not responsible for what other members post or do, though we act on reports.
To the extent the law allows, ChatQR isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
9. General
ChatQR, LLC is an Idaho limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho and of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law where you live says otherwise. If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to.
